Humaan groeihormoon (hGH, somatotropine) is een polypeptide afkomstig van de adenohypofyse. De secretie van groeihormoon wordt gestimuleerd door growth hormone releasing hormone (GHRH), afkomstig uit de hypothalamus en geïnhibeerd door somatostatine.
Groeihormoon heeft een anabole werking, het stimuleert de beendergroei, de eiwitsynthese en heeft een hyperglycemiërend en lipolytisch effect.
Verlaagde waarden:
- Hypofysaire dwerggroei
- Hypopituïtarisme
- Adrenocorticale hyperfunctie
Verhoogde waarden:
- Hypofysair adenoom
- Acromegalie
- Larons dwerggroei
- Ectopische GH secretie (maag of long neoplasie)
- Ondervoeding
- renaal falen
- Levercirrose
- Stress, inspanning
- Ongecontroleerde diabetes mellitus
Opmerking:
De waarden van groeihormoon variëren tijdens de dag en worden beïnvloed door een tal van factoren. Daarom heeft een random bepaling van groeihormoon weinig diagnostische waarde. |
